The Best Fictional Football Teams! 📺

With the return of everyone’s favourite American football manager in Season 3 of Ted Lasso released today, we thought we’d look at some of the best fictional football teams to grace our screens and pages.

AFC Richmond - Where better to start than with Ted’s team AFC Richmond? The fictional London team are now in the Premier League after promotion in Season 2 and things look to be spicing up for The Greyhounds. They have also released their new kits and we think these will go down well with kit collectors and fans of the show.

The Hurricanes - Led by Manager Jock Stone, The Hurricanes were a football club from a 90’s animated series of the same name. Each week the squad would be battling against teams in the ‘World Soccer League’ as well as engaging in adventures around the world.

Renford Rejects - Next we have everyone’s favourite underdog 5-a-side team ‘The Renford Rejects’. The show ran on Nickelodeon UK between 1998-2001. This plucky group of ballers gave us the greatest ever player from Italy - Bruno di Gradi!

Weatherfield County - Making their first appearance way back in 1961, Weatherfield County are the fictional team from the UK’s most popular soap Coronation Street. They involved in a storyline back in 2020 involving young player James Bailey battling with the pressures of being a gay football player.

Hounslow Harriers - In 2002 ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ took to our screens and the protagonists in the movie played for the London amateur football club the ‘Hounslow Harriers’.

Wirral County - In 2005 Ricky Tomlinson reprised his role as Mike Bassett in a TV version of the 2001 film. This sees the ex-England manager taking over Wirral County F.C. in what is seen as his last chance to stay in the game.

Earls Park FC - Earls Park FC was the team that featured in the mid 00’s TV hit ‘Footballers’ Wives’, centring around three players and their wives. It was based on the book ‘Footballers’ Wives Tell Their Tales’, written by Shelley Webb the wife of former Manchester United and England Midfielder Neil Webb.

Melchester Rovers - Since its first appearance in 1954 Melchester Rovers has been home to Roy Race (Roy of the Rovers). It has seen appearances from Sir Alf Ramsey, Roy resigning as manager live on Sky Sports and even had Roy release a single with Gary Lineker.

Harchester United - Airing on Sky One between 97-07, Dream Team was centred around the fictional club Harchester United. The show saw the manager have an affair with the chairman’s wife, their star striker killed by a clothes hook & the team perishing after lifting the F.A. Cup.

We actually have a Harchester United kit for sale! Tap the image above to view the product.
